I have had the privilege of working regularly with Jamie in my Pilates practice for over two years. She is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, supportive, positive, and funny. She LISTENS and adapts her classes to the stated needs and desires of her students. Her background in dance adds a very interesting aspect to her Pilates teaching, and she frequently blends Pilates technique with methods she has learned in her years of carefully studying different dance styles. I always look forward to classes or private sessions with her

Jamie Minkus' passion for conscious movement began at the young age of 8 when she took her first gymnastics lesson. Two years later, she started her competitive gymnastics career at a local club in Madison, WI. Just one year later, at the age of 11, the wear and tear of the intense sport started making its impact with constant debilitating pain in her right knee; she developed tendonitis. At the age of 11 her doctor told her she had to stop doing gymnastics. She calmly and stoically walked out of the doctors office, looked at her mom and firmly said: "Well that is simply not an option. Let's go find a second opinion and a physical therapist." Jamie continued being a competitive gymnast until she was 18 when it was time to go to college.

As a dancer, capoeirista, and former gymnast, Jamie has always been interested in understanding how the body moves through time and space. Her BASI Pilates training is a natural extension of that knowledge. Being an athlete who has experienced injuries, Jamie has embraced the ability to rehabilitate and strengthen the body to prevent future injury through Pilates. Her goal is to help people from all walks of life connect with their bodies through movement and breath, while developing a healthy sense of self and finding their own inner strength.

Jamie’s classes are playful, challenging, and informative. She wants to arm her clients with knowledge so they may carry information out of the studio and onto the road of life.

Through my love of movement came a desire to find healthy mobility to expand my body and longevity for the things I loved. Through this, I found Pilates.
